My condolences to Gene's family. I only knew Gene for 6 years, but enjoyed serving on the board for the last 3 years. His integrity and kindness was always present as he was always willing to help out a neighbor. He has been missed.

Gene was such a special part of our lives and was a part of creating the Sporl family. He took me in as one of his own and when he and Carole helped orchestrate meeting my husband, we were invited on special occasions to the coveted grub club. Gene had the best sense of humor, made life so much and us always kept us laughing!!! I honestly cannot picture my life without Gene in it. Thank you for being who you are and bringing so much happiness to our family - we will miss you so much. Sending prayers of comfort and peace to your family as they celebrate all you brought to so many.

I worked with Gene at Bell from 1994-2003. Gene was always an honest and caring person and had many friends that enjoyed working with him. Very sorry to hear of his passing and my condolences to the family.

Coach Z taught me how to hit the softball away from first base (I´m a leftie) and make a lay up in basketball. He was my coach for years and a dear family friend. So many of my childhood memories are made up of Gene coaching me in tee-ball, softball, & basketball, at the Z´s house on Pleasantview, their annual Christmas party, & Grub Club parties. Gene had a great sense of humor and was so funny! He was a wonderful friend to my family and will be missed.

Gene was a good friend. As a fellow Grub member Nancy and I spent time together and created many memories with Gene and Carol. On the golf course he played to win and he played by the rules. I shared many discussions about sports with Gene. Both Nancy and I will miss Gene and his quick one liners that put a smile on our face.

As the ancients said so many years ago, "these are the tears of things and the stuff of our mortality cuts us to the heart." Pam and I have share so much of our lives with Gene and Carol. We are cut to the heart and share our sympathy and condolences with Carol, Stephen, Amy, Granville and the rest of the family.

I can´t tell a Porsche from a Ford in today´s cars, but I remember and could recognize Gene´s very cool 1958 Chevy from high school. Gene and I go back a long way; we have made countless memories together -Dinner club and lots of parties; sharing meals and good times every Wednesday night for years and years; traveling together - San Antonio, Arizona, Indiana; fun times at Possum Kingdom at the Albert´s lake house. I remember the Zimmermans had family and friends over at Christmases at the old house on Pleasantview, and later all the anual dress up Christmases we shared at Dinner Club. So many wonderful memories. Thanks Gene. We loved you so.

I have to add:
Those of you who know me , know that I have played and continue to play a lot of golf -beautiful courses all over the area, across the country and literally all over the world . It was Gene who first introduced me to the game at the Willow Springs golf course way back when I was only 43 years old. Since that time Gene and I have shared many a round together. Gene is a beloved golfing buddy to me and to many who will be gathered at his celebration and is already missed dearly on the fairways of our old age.

His memory is certainly a blessing and the love he unleashed into this world will always have ripples through your lives and through the lives of all who knew him. Love you Soul Sister. Dear Carol and family,
As a neighbor who benefited from Gene's wisdom and help over many years, we thank you for your constant attention and help in promoting and keeping our community safe and beautiful . It is very challenging to remain positive and helpful with so many different perspectives on right and wrong, but Gene always did it graciously and thoughtfully . May God Almighty hear of your wonderful service here on Earth and proclaim, "Well done, my good and faithful servant. " Rest in Peace, Sir . In our thoughts , Wendy and Gordon Luk

Gene was a great friend. Our families shared many adventures together. He will be missed but never forgotten. There were 11 of us in the Grub Club that had dinner every Wednesday for over 30 years.
