Genevieve Ruth Holter

Genevieve Holter passed away peacefully on October 27, 2013, at the age of 94. She was born on June 20, 1919 in Omak, Washington to Hugh and Blanche Minnich, at the family apple ranch which her parents cleared and planted during her childhood. She graduated from Omak High School and attended Washington State University. She worked at the Omak Chronicle and the Okanagon County Prosecutor's Office until moving to Seattle during the war years, where she worked at the U.S. Department of Immigration. In 1952, she married prominent Seattle home builder C. Ivar Anderson. Together they owned and managed motels in Seattle and Palm Springs, and Genevieve continued to be active in this business after her husband's death and well into her 80's. She was the first woman president of the Motel Association of America. In 1974, she married Gordon Holter, and embraced his two daughters as her own. She was enthusiastically involved in the lives of her many nieces and nephews, and their families. Her generosity was unsurpassed, helping many family members with educational expenses. She was a member of University Presbyterian Church, a longtime member of P.E.O., (the philanthropic education organization for women), and a member of the Seattle Opera Guild.

In addition to her beloved husbands, she is preceded in death by brothers Russell and Harold Minnich, sisters Marian Muench and Dorothy Johnson, and nephew Dan Minnich. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her 10 nieces and nephews, two stepdaughters, and many great, and great great nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
