Geoffrey Louis LAFORTE

My condolences to Dr LaFortes family. Geoff was my mentor for 3 years while attending UWF, and got me interested in algorithms. He was a true inspiration, and a math genius. He will be sorely missed. God be with you all during this time of heartbreak.

Such a gentle man. So sad. It's many years since Geoff was in my life, when we were all still young. I will always remember him for his sweetness of nature, kind heart and sense of humour. Kia kaha Sally. Thinking of you and the kids, and good times past in Wellington.

Sally, you know I loved Geoff as a great friend down through the years. That time we had in Wellington was special. And my visits to Pensacola have great memories. I'm so sorry that you've lost your husband and father. I did not know Geoff well, but I served on a couple of committees with him over the years. May your happy memories of him give you some peace. God bless you all.

My condolences to Dr. LaForte's family! I took three of his classes at UWF, and he always communicated true enjoyment for his subject, his profession, and his interactions with students.

Best wishes to Sally and the entire family. Geoff was a valuable part of the UWF community and will be missed by faculty, staff, and students.

I so enjoyed working with Geoff on Faculty Senate. He always had such an even minded way of handling craziness. I will miss him. Sending Sally and the family much love, hugs, and happy thoughts.

I'm going to miss Dr. Laforte so much. He was just a few doors down from me and always open to talk. My sympathies go to Gwen and Charlie. I hope they know their dad was a great man who impacted a lot of students.

I extend my sympathies to you. I will miss Geoff, especially his good humor and commitment to students. He was an excellent colleague and an asset to our department.

I'm shocked. Geoff's office is a few offices down the hall from mine. We talked a lot about our families, children, etc. Last time I saw him was a couple of weeks ago, and he was in great spirit. He will be greatly missed.

My heart goes out to Sal and her children in the loss of Geoff. I enjoyed his patient, good humor and his capacity to weather changes with grace. He was a special man and will be greatly missed.

Although I did not know Geoff well, I know that he made a difference in the lives of many, many students over the years, that he was cherished by his colleagues, and loved very deeply by his family. Sal, Gwen, Charlie: I am so sorry for your loss. We grieve with you.

In this time of sadness, your friends in the University of West Florida Retired Employees Association surround you with their caring thoughts and sincere sympathy.

My condolences to Geoff's family and other friends. I recall one of the last times we spoke with each other, he had just demonstrated a clear sense of what was right and what was wrong. I told him I admired him for it.

Geoff was the rarest combination of intelligence and warmth, and I'll miss him as a colleague and friend.

Dear LaForte family, your husband/father had a profound impact on my academic career here at UWF. He was my instructor for calculus II, a subject in which I was unfortunately quite bad at. Geoff made sure however that I made it through painlessly though and was always a joy to have as a teacher. I loved his dry sense of humor towards the class and how he interacted with us. Please accept my most humble condolences and prayers.
