Geoffrey Wilson Obituary
Geoffrey Wilson of Leland, NC, formerly of New Fairfield, CT suddenly passed into the presence of His Lord on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the age of 65.
Geoff was predeceased by his parents, Fredric J Wilson, Jr and Eleanor Maroney Wilson and his in-laws, Samuel Henry, Jr and Frances Boss Henry. He was the husband of Sandra Henry Wilson and proud father to Jonathan David, Matthew Fredric and Geoffrey Trevor Wilson.
His devoted siblings are Suellen (Jeffrey) Wheeler, Eric (Madelene) Wilson and James Wilson and in-laws: Kathleen (Mark) Newton, Daniel (Shelly) Henry and Dawn (Charlie) Laird. Geoff loved all his nieces and nephews and catching up on their lives whenever he could: Katie S, Laney, Jay, Tucker, Katie L, Westley, Blake, Carter, Kim, Kristina, Jack and Harry. He showed enthusiastic, unabashed love to his grandnephews and grandnieces: Brynis, Lochlan, Ivy, Danica, Jessica and Tucker. He is currently showering that attention on little Finnian who predeceased him. He also leaves behind several cousins.
Geoff was born in Bronxville, NY. He attended Greenwich High School and Ithaca College and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. His professional career was in Information Technology for GE Capital and Synchrony Bank.
As the father of 3 active sons, he spent many years coaching youth sports in New Fairfield and was the Number One fan of New Fairfield High School Rebels Lacrosse until the day he left town.
Geoff retired in 2020 and moved to North Carolina to begin the next phase of his life. There he transferred his support to the Duke Men’s Lacrosse team with season tickets to the home games. He was the unofficial Project Manager of building his new house and he jumped into supporting and serving his new community: working with Matthew’s Children's Food Ministry, hosting PORCH Neighborhood Food Drives, serving at Port City Community Church and working in the Leland Area Rotary Club.
Geoff leaves behind his many friends: the life-long ones in Connecticut and warm and welcoming new ones in North Carolina and a large family who is missing him dearly.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday March 29, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM and a memorial service will immediately follow at 4 PM at Andrews Mortuary and Crematory, 1617 Market St,, Wilmington, NC. Interment will take place privately.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

I am a fellow Rotarian of the Leland Rotary Club who had the pleasure of working with Geoff in the service of others. I knew him a brief period of time, but he was an inspiration to me and our membership through his caring engagement, volunteerism, and positive upbeat "can do" attitude. Geoff will be missed.

So saddened by the sudden demise of Geoff. I had the pleasure of working with him during my early days at GE and he always brought such a positive attitude to each meeting. Always smiling, can do attitude and full of humor, I loved working with him. Even as our paths diverged, he would always come over and have a word and inquire about me. Sandi and family, I am saddened by the news of Geoff's passing. I started to work with Geoff in 2016 or 2017. We were working on a strategy Initiative Program (set of projects together) that was going to transform the company. We had a rocky start that was short-lived. From there we were amazing partners. I had his back and he had mine. I learned so much from him. He was kind, patient, understanding, and so hard-working. When he retired I was not sure we were going to complete the program. In the end we were wildly successful and I attribute that to all the work that he did before he left. He checked in from time to time to see how things were going. And I was happy to provide him updates so he would know and be proud.
He was one of my biggest fans. When I transitioned out of Synchrony he was there to offer support. He picked me up when I was truly down. He helped me see things for what they were and gave me sage advice on how to move ahead. For that I will always be thankful.
I was not able to share with him that I landed a role as a Program Manager doing what he and I enjoyed. I was to make the call this week. By sharing this, I hope he and his family will have an appreciation of the difference he made in my life.
During this change I had a spiritual encounter that I shared with him. I am different from it and have grown so much. I frequently pray for Geoff and Sandy's deceased family to provide comfort. It will continue to pray for Geoff to find his eternal rest.
