A life well-lived doesn't end
any more than music ends...
it echoes through time
with whispers of beauty and grace.
If we listen, we can hear the encore with our hearts,
for the song plays on,
just as love lives on.

Our love,

I got to know Mr. Aiken 30 years ago. I had
just married and moved to Pittsburgh and was working as a teller at Keystone Bank in Regent Square, where he brought in his payroll rolled up in the morning newspaper each day. When a tragedy occurred in my family, he drove me to the Greyhound bus station so I could go home and be with my family.
I will never forget his decency and kindness.

Dear Dee and Family,
Sorry to hear of your loss. Sam, to me, was always a good patient, and mostly a good friend. May the wonderful memories that you have of Sam help you through this difficult time.

Dear Sharon and family,

I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you.

I was fortunate enough to be invited by Sharon to family parties and outings as a teen and always enjoyed Mr. Aiken's humor and contagious energy. I hope that the many good memories that you have of him bring comfort to you.

God Bless

To the Aiken family,
It has been years since I have seen Mr. Aiken, but I have many wonderful memories of him. I worked as a teller in the First Seneca banks in Regent Square and Squirrel Hill when I was in college, and I got to know Mr. Aiken very well from his stops in the bank. He always arranged for us to have a good table when we went to the Georgetowne Inn (where we eventually got engaged), and he and Kenny helped us when we had our rehearsal dinner at Fairchild's in Monroeville. Mr. Aiken was a very generous and kind man, and I will always remember him for that. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

With deepest sympathy,

To Kenny and the entire Aiken Family,
We will remember your Dad as a wonderful and loving man. Always welcoming me into his house and enjoying my company. Our sorrow and prayers are with you. Always remember the times he spilled coffee in his Lincoln and our trips downtown, Wilkinsburgh and Mt Washington. As a father, husband, and friend we all will miss him.

Aunt Denie, Maureen, Ken, Nancy & Sharon...Please accept my deepest sympathies at this time. It was such an honor to have known Uncle Sam and he has left my family and I with such wonderful memories that will last forever. I will truly miss him, and his sweet smile, but, it is comforting for me to know that he is finally at peace and at home with our Lord. Love you.

Dee, Nancy & Bob, and Family,
May God Bless and guide you during this time of loss. May you find strength in one another and accept that strength as love. As each sun rises may you experience the brilliance of Sam's smile, feel the gentleness of his touch as the wind blows against your skin and see the joy of his life in the eyes of his children, grandchildren and their children to come. Please know you will remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Ken and family, my family sends our deepest sympathy. Your Dad's chicken was a staple of the Glunt family (as well as many South Oakland homes)for years. But the legacy he left was not limited to the food business. I can still remember marching proudly down Forbes Avenue in the early 70s in the Little League parade, which included the green and white uniforms of..."Aikens."

Dee, Maureen, Nancy, Kenny, and Sharon,

I was so sorry to hear about your loss. Sam was truly a charitable, honest, and great man. I still can remember those late night car trips I used to take with Sharon and Sam (referred to by me as "Mr. Aiken") to one of his many stores. I also can still hear the sound of Perry Como's "Sound Off" as he played it in his car. He was always so good to my mother and to me. May memories of the good times you shared together bring you comfort during this difficult time.

I would like to send my condolences to the entire extended Aiken family. Sam was an extraordinary gentleman and a breath of fresh air in what can be an extremely hectic business. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
