George Bodnar Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 28 to Mar. 29, 2007.
BODNAR _ George 1938 - 2007 George was a true individual who loved his family fiercely. It took a devastating diagnosis of cancer to slow down a man who was always in motion - building, repairing, upgrading and improving all the details in his and his loved one's life. Every day he will be in the thoughts of his wife of forty-four years, Marilyn, his children, the eldest Cameron and twins Michael (Andrea) and Michelle, as well as numerous family and friends upon whom he always left an impression. Counted with all the things he has done for people far and wide, where every free moment of his time was occupied, he is recognized as a dedicated former City of Calgary Employee of twenty-five years and volunteer with the Lake Bonavista Community Association, the Calgary Buffalo Hockey Association, the World Police and Fire Games, the Calgary Winter Festival and more. He performed the role of coach and assistant coach for his children's hockey, soccer, baseball and lacrosse teams, and loved golfing, long drives and working with his hands. The Bodnar family would like to invite all those who have known George to a special and informal gathering at the Calgary Rugby Union on Shepard Road S.E., Thursday, March 29 starting at 6:00 p.m. to pay respect to George's life, priorities and purpose. Guests may feel free to come and go at their convenience. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Tom Baker Cancer Centre or a charity of choice. Condolences may be emailed to [email protected].

We were so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.
George will be missed by his many friends here at Cana & Ace Construcion. He was always a cheerful and a well liked individual. He will be remembered fondly for his practical jokes, sense of humor and hard work.

Marilyn and Family
Please accept our heartfelt sympathy in your loss. George was a great Sask. guy and was always fun to talk to about hockey and sports in general. He left a huge legacy to his family and community. It seems that people like George come into our lives fewer and fewer and we must treasure and appreciate when that happens. George will be missed, but through his family the values that he stood for are very much alive and well
