Barb -I received a B.A. degree in math from the University of Minnesota in June of 1972. During my course of study I had Prof. Brauer for a Linear Algebra course - Math 5243. I studied hard, learned a lot from him and he was always one of my favorite professors. I would see him in downtown Minneapolis from time to time and he would always remember me by name. I really thought a lot of him and was saddened today to learn of his death from one of the secretaries in the math department at the U. of M. I will miss knowing that he is no longer with us.
Sincerely,
Jim Lees

Barb, my deepest condolences. I was a math student, and made a point to talk with George every chance I got. I will miss our conversations, and the world is indeed a much less interesting place without him.

I am deeply saddened to hear that George left us. Having known him as a U of M postdoc in 1988/89, I never have nor will forget his kindness.

Barb,
I enjoyed visiting with George many times when I would go to your State Band concerts. I always looked for him and made sure to say hello.
With sympathy from Larry Schumi (Mn State Band tuba from many years ago)

Barbara and family,
So saddened to learn of George's passing. He was a caring teacher, a wonderful colleague, and a
very kind man -- he always made me smile. He will be greatly missed at the U of M, where so many people knew him. Warm memories of him will live on. Deepest sympathies.
