George Brown Jr Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 8, 2024.
George "Spud" Leo Brown Jr., aged 67, born and raised in Union County, New Jersey, was called to eternal rest on April 26, 2024, in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the cherished son of Willie Mae Brown and was predeceased by his father, George Leo Brown Sr., and his brother, Ronald Brown.

Born on November 4, 1956, Spud lived a life marked by dedication to both family and country. His devotion to his mother, his beloved sisters Kelly (Milton) Halley, Kathy Elder, Desirae Brown, his valued son Andre (Patrice) Owens, his treasured daughters Tina Owens, Shawnia Martin and Mecca Wilson, eleven grandchildren and a host of other relatives was evident to all who knew him.

Spud served with honor in the United States National Guard, protecting and serving his nation with integrity. Upon completion of his military duties, he pursued a profession as an automobile mechanic, a field in which his talented hands brought life back to countless engines and machines.

A man of simple pleasures, Spud found joy in the game of dominoes and in the laughter and companionship of his family and friends. His unwavering commitment to his profession, his heartfelt patriotism, and his genuine love of fellowship will remain as a guiding example to all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.

The Brown family expresses their deep gratitude for the outpouring of love and condolences during this time of loss. A memorial service to honor the life and legacy of George "Spud" Leo Brown Jr. will be announced at a future time.

We entrust George into the arms of our Lord with the fullness of faith, knowing that he has found peace and rest. May his soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace and rise in glory. Amen.

I remember 'Spud' chose his words carefully and I loved the doubt of his voice and his laugh. Being younger and shorter I looked up to him and would just hang on to every word he said. So handsome in uniform. Cousin Spud was gigantic to me as a kid and I just loved him so much.

My brother taught me a lot about cars. He loved fixing cars. I always believed he needed his own shop!!
