George Buchanan

George Wayne Buchanan, 72, passed away on September 1, 2025, in Dawsonville, Georgia. Born on April 10, 1953, in Newnan, Georgia, George lived a vibrant and adventurous life marked by curiosity, candor, and a deep appreciation for the world around him.

A graduate of North Clayton High School, George went on to attend Clayton State College before embarking on a long and dedicated career with Delta Airlines. He began his tenure at Delta on May 30, 1978, working in the machine shop. Over the years, his skill and attention to detail led him to become an Inspector in Technical Operations-a role he held with pride until his retirement on January 31, 2018. His four decades of service reflected not only his technical expertise but also his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

George was known for his gregarious nature and kind heart. He had a bold spirit and never hesitated to speak his mind-traits that endeared him to many and made every conversation with him memorable. His zest for life extended far beyond the workplace. A passionate traveler and thrill-seeker, George found joy in motorcycle riding across scenic routes, exploring underwater worlds through scuba diving, carving down snowy slopes on skis, and gliding across lakes while water skiing. He embraced life fully and unapologetically-even as a nudist-living each day with authenticity and freedom.

He is lovingly remembered by his sister Michele Buchanan; his brother Scott Buchanan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will carry forward memories of his spirited personality and generous heart.

George was preceded in death by his father Billy Joe Buchanan and mother Shirley Ann Buchanan.

A celebration of George's life will be held at a later date. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspiration to live boldly and kindly.
