I would like to say a few words about my friend George Chatley. George was the best catholic I knew! This was very weird since I am an atheist and quite well spoken on the subject. George and I became friends because we both sought to understand the difference between the two parties. George was a solid thinker, and I don´t know of a replacement? George, if you make it to the Pearly Gates, don´t forget my theory of air boats and steam engines!

Being one of the oldest in the 3rd Hamburg, NY Chatley generation, I was very fortunate to know Uncle George a long time, even when he married Aunt Gail. As a youngster I would see he and Gail at family gatherings and I also spent time visiting with them in N. Carolina and Florida as a teen and with a family of my own.
Besides my father, John, George left a very positive impression on me, especially the strong Chatley work ethic and family responsibility.
George is the youngest male and last of the six Chatley brothers from a family of eleven children.
Their father, Frank Chatley (my Grandfather) instilled in his children a deep sense of family pride, integrity, motivation and the gift of humor.
My Grandmother, Irene, balanced those qualities with kindness, concern for others and a profound religious faith.
Those who knew George well witnessed these same admirable qualities and almost always with an infectious smile and a gentle tease.
Uncle George, you were a fine example to an impressionable young nephew and our family. Thank you!
We´ll miss you, George, but I´d have to say that the angels above are in for a real treat !
