George W. Denny

Reverend George W. Denny, 88, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at his home. George went to be with Jesus.
He was born August 14, 1927 in Okemah, Oklahoma the son of George F. and Pearl Denny.
On February 14, 1945 he married Freda Lankford in Bristow, Oklahoma.
George served in the US Army as an electrician from 1945-1948.
In 1959 George accepted a job as an electrician at the INL and moved the family to Idaho where he was employed for 32 years, retiring in 1991.
George became an ordained minister in 1963 and served for 50 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with his son, George and longtime best friend Rev, Erick Kaiser. Taking his family of five children on a yearly two week vacation was the hi-light of his children's life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Freda Denny; son, George (Pat Denny of Dayton, TX;  daughters, Lyn (Jim) Koch of Twin Oaks, OK, Margaret (Rod) Nelson of Pocatello, ID and Elva Denny-Scarr of Arco, ID; four sisters, Wilda, Mary, Wanda, Jean; fourteen grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Pearl Denny; two brothers; one sister; his loving daughter, Merlene (Burchard) Denny; and grandson, Steven Burchard.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday February 13, 2016 at The Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, 288 W. Pacific in Blackfoot, Idaho. Family will gather at 9:30 a.m. at the church for a visitation prior to the services.
