George Dickerson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 1 to Mar. 3, 2023.
George Michael Dickerson, 82, passed away on February 25, 2023, after a

brief illness.

George was born in Lufkin, Texas to George and Pauline (Kelly) Dickerson

on December 28, 1940. He served in the United States Air Force from

October 1960 through October 1964, when he was released from active

duty from Oxnard Air Force Base (now Camarillo Airport). George married

Donna Laurent on November 30, 1962. They raised their family in Oxnard,

California but recently relocated to Bakersfield. He worked for

General Telephone in Oxnard from February 1965 through 1993, when he retired as a Technical Engineer.

Dad was an avid fisherman and always looked forward to his deep-sea

fishing trips to Mexico or Canada or just out to the Anacapa Islands. His

garage was filled with fishing poles, as he built his own rod wrapping

machine and enjoyed making poles for friends. You could often find him

hanging out there with his buddies, and he almost always had a cold

Budweiser in hand! He was also quite the gamer and loved Playstation, even at 80 plus years young! Dad also loved NASCAR and his Los Angeles Dodgers.

George is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna Dickerson; children,

Theresa (Paul) Bonaventure, Jim (Kim) Laurent, and Michael Dickerson

(fianc?e Mary Senesac), and his sister Jerry Gutierrez of Sugarland, Texas.

He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be no services per Dad's request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
