It took me 13 years to find my teacher. You were the teacher. Over 40 years later, Othello plays in my head and so does Romeo and Juliet. You read all the parts. You truly inspired me. I kept my notebook from 12th grade Humanities. Thank you Mr. Doolittle....all teachers should be like you.

A wonderful man, dedicated teacher, even after retirement, theatergoer (his annual trips to NYC were always fascinating, and bridge player. It was my pleasure to know George, Nancy, and to have met several of their children. I particularly appreciate the opportunity I had to visit with him at Woodcrest a couple of years ago. He was a truly great man.

I will always treasure George (and Nancy's) generous hospitality when, in my early 20s, I moved to NY from LA. I so enjoyed our conversations about the theatre. RIP dear sweet George. With love from Dianne and Jeff Cohn

George was one of the kindest, generous, thoughtful man I have ever known. He was a good friend, bridge partner of my mother, Josephine. I know her last year's were greatly better, with George as a friend. I am sorry for your lost. He was one of the best.

George was as inspirational a colleague as any young English teacher could ever hope to find. His ability to teach Shakespeare was legendary and he was generously kind in sharing both his methods and materials with me when I was a young teacher at Sewanhaka High School. Both a scholar and gentleman, he will always hold a special place in my heart and memories. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I knew George from his home at Woodcrest Village, a wonderful man to carry a conversation with on most any subject. He was always a sweet, caring person. His eyes dazzled with diamonds and a smile to light up the room, especially when speaking about the newest baby. Pictures were always with him. Fly high George your among the angels. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Loves leaves a memory no one can steal. Peace and comfort to the family.

George was our long-time friend and charming traveling companion. We carry with us a treasure trove of memories of exciting places and wonderful adventures. Most of all perhaps the hilarious mis-adventures!
We will miss him greatly.

To the Doolittle Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
