George/Stephen, I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your father. He was my 5th Grade teacher at Nixon Elementary, and was probably the most influential teacher I had throughout my life. Up until 4th grade, I never really took things seriously in school and was not very focused. Your dad turned my life around and truly got me to focus on "growing up" and taking responsibility for my education and pretty much set me straight for the remainder of my education even through college. I've thought about him often over the years and am deeply grateful that I had the opportunity to know him and for the influence he had on my life. So long my friend until we meet again. The 24 years since the bone marrow surgery were 24 years of serving others as George really appreciated his second chance at life. He worked, tirelessly, at fish Frys and festivals to the benefit of Our Lady of Grace Parish. His efforts and love for others will always be appreciated and remembered.
