Kevin and I loved George! He was our next door neighbor and a great help on many occasions. He had a great sense of humor and we had many laughs together. Both George and Kevin are gone so those memories are very dear!

Well Hey Grandpa,
Been a long time. I sure do miss you! I wish that the kids could've gotten to hear your voice and get to know you the way I did. As I'm sure you know now, Mom(DeeDee) passes away in March 2019! I love you so much, I hope that you and mom are having a blast. Make a beer for lunch bunch up there and make sure you save me a place(I'm old enough now;). Give mom a hug and kiss from me. Love you!

One of my father's best friends. Rest in peace, Mr. George. I know you and Daddy are having an Army reunion like no other.

Papa George. I am thinking about you tonight as I sit here drinking some Jim beam thank you for being there for me always. I love and miss you.

Think of you often Uncle George! Always thought you were a great guy. When I look at clouds I think....now what type of clouds did Uncle George tell me that was.

Hey grandpa. I miss you! I love you so much. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you or wish you were still here. I know you're up there watching over me, just like you did from afar before. I wish you could've met the kids, but I know with my oldest, I have part of you in him. He's got the red hair that you had when you were younger. I love you grandpa.

You were a wonderful person, one full of bravery and life!

I wondered why our Christmas cards stopped coming from George...We miss you - you were our favorite neighbor ever. Kevin and I moved to Savannah and lived at 8 Holiday Court- next door. Thank you George for all your talks, Basil, laughter, and lending an ear when needed. Love ya- so sorry it took so long to figure out what happened. Since we left Savannah Kevin passed also. George, you have been gone for a year and it seems like only yesterday. I miss you so much and the tears still stream. You were so much a part of my life, and now you are watching over me and my family. One day we will meet again and enjoy the conversations again. I can see you now guarding the Golden Gates of Heaven with all of your armory. You made me laugh when I wanted to cry. You took care of me and kept me going. The Lord had better plans for you up there with him than down here suffering in pain. I just miss you so much. God Bless you and keep you safe.

George, you were a wonderful neighbor and a great friend. I was very saddened to hear the news of your passing. Peter and I will treasure the beautiful gift you gave us to commemorate our wedding. May you rest in peace. God Bless.

Daddy, I don't know what to say. Happy Valentines' Day. I wish you were here to hear me say that. I love you and miss you with all my heart.

George, after my sister Louisa's death you cared for her and girls as always, for this I thank you

God Bless You Uncle George. I just heard of your passing. I'm glad I got to talk with you back in November. It had been so long since I'd seen you. I was just a teenager..when in 1961..I stayed part of the summer with you and Aunt Louisa in Fayetteville, NC~Memories of Fort Bragg! On our phone conversation, we spoke of old times...and I told you my grandson now is going into the Army! Now...you are gone and I know you will be missed by many! My sympathy goes out to all of Uncle George's family.

I was one of the Friday Beer for Lunch group at Logans for several years and through lots of beers. We all listened to his stories about his many careers and life in general.
God did he love to tell those stories! He will be missed by me and many others.

George, you were my father for the last 13 years. We had that pack deep in our hearts. You always introduced me as your daughter and Matthew as your grandson, I will never forget that. I know you are in a better place and the pain is no more. We, Marvin, Matthew and I have alot of healing to do. I know that I have 2 Guardian Angels watching over me and my family now. I have my father and now you. I will always keep in touch with your family as I know that is what you would have wanted. I loved you so very much and the pain will take along time to ease. George, I will see you on the other side, waiting to hear more stories of the places you have been and the people you have met. Thank you for all you have taught me and the respect you showed to me. Thank you for all of the good times and helping me through all of my bad times. You had a big shoulder that will never be able to be replaced. You were a true professional in every aspect of life. I loved you with all my heart and the memories of you will never wander too far from my heart. I will always hold a special place deep within my heart just for you. As you always said to me, "I'll drink to that".

My condolences to the entire family. George and I met at LongHorns Steak House several years ago. I have heard hundreds of his career stories that he loved telling. He was very proud of his family and spoke of you often. He will be missed!

The Glynn County Sheriff's Office would like to express our sincere sympathy over the loss of Mr. Freeberg. He always willingly and wholeheartedly gave of his time and knowledge to assist us with any training needs we might have. He was a delightful man and he will be sorely missed.

George and I were the founders of the Friday Beer for Lunch group that met every Friday. We luched together for over ten years. Heard all the war stories and we exchanged jokes and political comments. George, you will certainly be missed by many.

My husband and are employees at Youth ChalleNGe and have appreciated your father's support of the program. I also heard him speak several times while I was attending Armstrong. He certainly had an interest in the young people in this area. His contributions to our youth and the community will not be forgotten.

My condolences to the family of George Freeburg. We will miss him on the Georgia Youth Challenge Academy State Selection Committee.

George, you were a soldier, warrior, police instructor, friend and we shared great stories. Get some much needed rest and I will see you on the other side...we have some catching up to do.

The family and friends of George Freeberg will certainly miss their father, grand father, great, grand father, friend, Soldier’s Soldier, leader, Law Enforcement Officer, teacher, humorist, teller of stories, and singer of songs. The tears will come; but rest assured that George has gone on to the Sweet Rest he earned where none of the pain and suffering we have in these old bodies exists. Remember that smile of his, those big bear hugs and his spirit because his was a life to celebrate. Then smile! The George I met in Omaha some 20 years ago now would not have it any other way. (We know how George could “gently” insist on how things were to be done) It was an honor to have known him.

My condolences to the family and friends of George Freeberg. In addition to being a fine officer, he was a teacher, an intelligent man, and he possessed a sense of humor that he was quick to share with everyone. He was above everything else that I knew about him, a Friend. God has a special place in heaven for those who protect His people. I'm sure that George is there sharing stories with the other officers, telling the same jokes he shared with us, and gathering the other Chatham County Sheriff's Department personnel who have gone before us, trying his best to convince them to sit through just one more of his training classes. Get 'em George!

So long George! You were a inspiratrion to a number of officers at the Sheriff's Department and it was a treat to have worked with you in training.
