Geraldine Martin Obituary

Our beloved wife, mother, nana and amazing human being, Geraldine "Geri" Mae Martin, passed away suddenly on Feb. 1, 2009, in Fairfield.
She was born in Merced on Jan. 16, 1935, and lived the past 48 years in Fairfield.
In 1967, Geraldine went to work for the City of Fairfield and was still a proud city employee at the time of her passing. Geri was the hostess extraordinaire. If there was a party or event to be planned, you called on her.
She was also "Miss Fix It," with tools not many women would have ever thought about possessing. She always said, "You can't do a job if you don't have the tools." Her other passion was the beach and her "sands of the world" collection.
She touched many lives in her short 74 years, but none more than her family's. It was all about family and holidays, making every one more special than the last.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Mildred Hibbard; brother John Hibbard; and her beloved son, Gregory Adams.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Dale Martin; daughter Kathleen McIntyre (John); son Alan Martin (Shanna); daughter-in-law D.J. Adams; stepdaughter Nanette Pena (John); stepson Wayne Martin; and the light in her eyes, her beautiful granddaughters, Amanda Bouffard and Tara and Kylie Martin.
You were loved by many and will be missed so very much.
A celebration of her wonderful life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Unity Church of the Valley, 350 North Orchard Ave. in Vacaville. The Rev. Ken Michah Murdock will officiate.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 West Texas Street, Fairfield, 425-4697.

To Geri's family, I am so sorry for your loss and hope you can take some comfort in knowing that Geri was well loved by so many people. When I entered Fairfield City Hall in 1999, she was one of the first and friendliest faces I saw. She always had a smile for me and was one of my biggest fans, as I was of her. I am truly sorry for your loss and know that Geri will be watching over all of you from her place in the clouds.

When I was hired at the City of Fairfield in 1974, I was a 20 year old youngster. I 'grew up' with her help and guidance. I always enjoyed working with her and will miss her. I also very much enjoyed our bowling league.

Dearest Geri: You were one of a kind and I treasure your friendship. Having our son's and meeting in the maternity ward in May 1968 was the beginning of a friendship that was very special.
I cannot take your families pain away, but I truly share it. Forever in my heart and mind.
Your old buddy, Marsha Acosta and Family
