George Joseph Gabin

George's spirit very much resonates in the painting of his that I admire every day. Quiet and unassuming ... but full of surprises and insights that one could appreciate over time. I regret not seeing him more often, but his work certainly speaks volumes on his behalf.

Dear Martha, my deepest condolences to you and Goerge's family. it was such a treat knowing you both and for a short time being your neighbor. George's work was so beautiful but it was his kind and warm personality that i will never forget. What a pleasure running into both of you at Open Studios. Martha, it has been such a joy to have George in my life - as friend, teacher, and guide. I will never forget all he taught me. How sad you all must be. I am sorry - so sorry.

Martha, Carol, Paulena and all those who loved George - I think of you all the time as you go through this loss - it is so hard to lose his spirit, love and creativity. I hope you will be buoyed by the wonderful memories of your times together.

George was my illustration professor at the Montserrat School of Visual Art from 1972–1976. He was an inspiring teacher. He taught from the heart and soul and encouraged his students to take whatever medium we were using to the limits. He gave me encouragement and support at a critical time in my art career and I owe a great deal to him. I am saddened by his passing but joyful to know that he is alive in his paintings and in the hearts of his many students.
