George Gilder Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and The Province on Feb. 15, 2007.

GILDER _ George H. passed away on February 11, 2007 at the age of 78. Everyone loved him. He was inspiring, courageous, and supportive to all. George was a Worshipful Master three times at Mount Lebanon Lodge #72, and once the president of Burnaby Mountain Senior Mens Golf Club. His joys were his family, friends, lodge and golfing. If he had knowledge or a skill he thought you could use, he would give it. He has apprenticed many. Success for George was being able to call somebody a friend. Wherever he went, he made people smile. Thank you to his medical team and the staff at Royal Columbian Hospital for your amazing efforts. Survived and always lovingly remembered forever by his wife Margaret ("Margie"); sons Nick and Steve; sister Maureen; grandchildren Nicole, Justin, Leanne, and Elizabeth; daughters-in-law Lianne and Lurenda; Geoff, Jay, and Centura; and many more friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 pm on Sunday, February 18th at Burnaby Mountain Golf Course, 7600 Halifax Street, Burnaby.

We first met George when we visited Canada in 1992,We moved to Canada in 2001 and George was always full of support,We did not see George often though when we did he was always the same, full of fun and genuinely concerned how we were doing. The world was a happier place with George around.
God bless you.
Our payers are with you Marge and all your family.

It was always a pleasure to see George and Margie at Lianne and Steve's for Christmas and all family get togethers. We had good times. (We will miss his golf tales.)

George Gilder was the kindest and funniest person you could ever meet. He made everyone feel good about themselves and he will be greatly missed by all. Heaven will be an even better place with you there George.

I wanted to say that I LOVED GRANDAD more than anything. His smiles! His laugh! His Frank Sinatra dancing! The top of his head in a crossword. His over-interst in sports; reading the sports pages, wathcing two games at once, all while listening to another on his headset. Our roadtrips as a child sitting between nanny and grandad on the ice chest in the yellow "banana" van. His positivity, good cheer, and love was -and still is- endless! The beautiful memories are absoultely alive forever and I have nobody to thank but grandad for those! I know I will miss you immensely! I carry all the memories and the GILDER name FOREVER and EVER with so much pride!

George had always said that I was more than his daughter-in-law, that I was his daughter. I am very proud to say that I am Gilder. I Love you Dad, and will always miss you.
