In memory of

Add memories that will last forever

Not sure what to say?

I am just now seeing this and I am proud to say my parent's were part of George and Ruth Halsey's Amway downline. I believe I was 12 years old when my parents joined Amway. I followed all the principals and was marveled at what George and Ruth stood for during that time. I read books; As A Man Thinketh, and See You At the Top to name a few. I recall traveling from Los Angeles to Greensboro in a motorhome for one of Amway's prestigious Awards Night (I think '82/'83) were memories I will never forget. We even had the pleasure of hosting a breakfast for him at our house. That was the summer of 1985. I was 18 years old at the time, I am now 53. My own father passed January 7th of this year, while looking for photos to put in the obituary, I came across the photo of George sitting in our dining room table and was honored to have taken a photo with him with my then boyfriend. He was honored to be a part of the photo as he saw how excited we all were yet he knew nothing of his history. Ruth, although 11 years later, my prayers to you and the family.

Rest in peace George, it was a pleasure to have met you.

Bonnie and I were blessed to see George and Ruth on several occasions. The first time was in Indianapolis in January 1995 at the Hoosier Dome. We had heard several of their tapes including This is Diamond. George was always an inspiration. Yesterday in Nashville at Opryland, we saw Ruth speak and were greatly inspired. That is when we heard confirmation of the rumors of George's death. Ruth is a great, courageous woman and we were blessed yesterday by having the opportunity to see her. Mrs. Halsey, George will be deeply missed. I will always remember his talking about being on a cruise, I think it was in Ireland and people thinking he was the King of Nairobi and also when he visited Jay Van Andel's tropical flower garden, "in Michigan, the coldest place on the face of the earth." His humor and his uplifting spirit will always be with us and we are grateful for having the opportunity to learn from the two of you.

To the Halsey Family,
Thank you for allowing us to love and learn from George. George and Ruth will always be an inspiration and motivation to us.
On an invitation from Mason Weaver Ty and I drove from New Jersey to North Carolina to meet George and Ruth. It was an experience that will forever be embedded in my heart. After very warm tight, loving hugs from George, Ruth and Karen we sat and listened to them share more than just their story, they shared their life with us.
Thank you George, Thank you Hasley family.

Dear Ruth and Family
My husband and I saw George speak many times. We just this morning learned of George's passing and were so very sad. My husband is a police officer, and George touched our hearts with his stories. He is fondly remembered by many in Canada. Our sincerest condolences to your family. Thank you George for sharing your life with us.

Dear Ruth
My wife and I hosted you and George when you spoke for Diamond Quest in Philadelphia in 1994. When we picked you up at the airport you said we were the first black couple to ever host you.
That weekend is forever one of the highlites of my life because of what the two of you will always mean to me.
I hope you know that there are thousands of people praying "Gods peace" for you, and that George will certainly be missed by many many others...as I know he is by you.

I just learned of the passing of Mr. Halsey. I first learned of him by listening to his tapes when I first joined the business in 1993. His love and passion for life really came through in his tapes. I had the pleasure of meeting the Halseys at a rally in the Chicago area. Very nice and down to earth people. May God continue to cover the family with His love and grace.

Dear Ruth what an inspiration you both have been to me when I was in the Amway business. To hear you share the love of Jesus so openly at meetings and giving him the glory at all times. What a powerful wonderful man. I still have many pictures of you both at seminars you spoke at in London as I view them at times with fond memories. Your dear husband will truly be missed by us all but we will meet again. God bless you and the family.

Dear Mrs. Halsey,

I am deeply saddened to hear of your loss.(10-11-08) I really admired you both for your leadership in Amway. George use to say "it takes guts to get out of a rut". He was truly a man who used the gifts God gave him to enrich the lives of others. May God bless you and your family in the years to come.

Ruth, thank you for sharing your love and your example with so many other couples. Thank you for giving hope to hurting families, letting us know we can achieve beyond our circumstances. You were both an inspiration to a lot of people! Thank you for believing in your husband enough to let him be the incredible man God intended him to be. How wonderful to know that he was greeted with "Well done, my good and faithful servant!"
Though it hurts so much that he has entered into his eternal reward ahead of you, take comfort that you won't be missing him forever! Jesus promised the most beautiful family reunion, yet to come!
God bless you in the years to come, as you have blessed all of us!

Dearest Ruth,

What do you say about a man who touched the world with every word and every step? The impact that you and George have and will continue to have on everyone who is blessed enough to know you and hear you is immeasurable.

What a legacy. What a tribute. What a message that, praise God, will not end as George moves on to his eternal reward. Our loss is certainly Heavens gain.

Those times we were honored to host you or just spend time with you are some of the special highlights of our life.

Thank you for who you are and what you've done and for continuing to carry the torch for another generation.

We love you. God Bless you. May the Holy Spirit pour out His Blessings of Comfort on you.

Dear Ruth, thank you for sharing "Your Man" with the rest of the world. I remember reading the article in Ebony many years ago about your accomplishments as Amway Distributors. Thanks for your leadership. I really appreciate the love, laughter, conviction, and kindness expressed on the tapes received through the system. I'll never forget the admonishment to "UP YOUR PV". Although George said he was too shy to talk to his own shadow, he sure had a lot to say. Many Blessings to you,Karen and Kissy.

John & Sheryl Robinson

September 17, 2008

Ruth, Karen & Kissy;
I'm deeply touched by the passing of George but hope that your spirits are lifted in the way mine have been over these pass 25 years by George's influence. I'm a better man because of the kind of man George was. I will never forget the love he showed so many in his life-time. You both have inspired Sheryl and I beyond words.

As I observed George through the years I realized he was a lover of life (which included fast cars - can't forget the funny stories about all the cars), family, friends, country, strangers (although George never seemed as though he'd met one) and his maker God Almighty: Not unlike past men of renown George was a man of most renown among men. And, as I'd heard him say so often, "Mama [really did] married a man!"

Thank you (Ruth, Karen & Kissy) for sharing your special man with the world.

May you all have health, proserity, peace, safety and the joy of fondest memories for many years to come.

God bless you...

Such a great legacy left. So many thousands of lives touched. So many were challenged, motivated and inspired by that great spinner of dreams, George Halsey. The laugh, the smile, the memories are forever imprinted on our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Ruth, Karen and Kissy.

I have many very fond memories both in person as well as the many favorite tapes. I can vividly remember sitting in the audience getting close enough so that when he would say something like "you can do it" I would just hope he would look into my eyes with his bright eyes and smile and I knew that there was somebody who believed in me. That lasting impression is one that will remain with me forever! God Bless George & Ruth Halsey!

Although we were devasted to hear of George's passing, we could not help but think of the obedient life he lived and the hundreds of thousands of lives he impacted around the world. In many years in the Amway business, no other Diamond's audios were more requested in our business than those of George and Ruth Halsey. Truly an inspiration. Now that's a great example of a "Purpose Driven Life" . See you in Heaven, George.

September 15, 2008

Dear Ruth,

I heard you and George speak on stage several times over the last decade, and have often listened to that wonderful, uplifting tape, "This Is Diamond." Your story inspired me to look forward, not backward, as things changed in our lives. Only once did I see you two up close - while sitting on a bench, just thinking, outside a convention hall. You and George strolled along hand in hand, talking about normal 'couple' things. It was so obvious that he loved you, that you loved each other. And it struck me that as blessed the pair of you were as speakers on stage, as much an inspiration as you two are to all who've met or heard you - George's talks (and demonstrations) of his love for Jesus and you were the most wonderful blessings he gave the world. Thank God for Amway that gave George, a quiet homebody, a worldwide stage to speak and preach Jesus' love to so many. Blessings and much love to you; thank you for sharing George with all of us for so many years. You and your family are in our prayers.

Dear George - My Buddy,
We connected on many areas, often without completing sentences... Your eyes said more to me than words. It was an honor to have breathed the same air, shared the same space, connected cerebrally, to have exchanged ideas on the Goodness of the Amway business, the Distributors, and how it helped soooo many people. You're a Legend, Man... (My Karen, feels the same way) Our only regret, is that, We didn't get to spend more time with You, but, We'll see you at the Big House.

George Halsey was a wonderful man that showed that true success has nothing to do with color or race. George said many times that it's all about heart.
We will never know how many people have been truly touched by George's love, but we know that he has left a legacy of love, support and success that will continue as he spends an eternity with our Lord Jesus.

George was such an inspiration to all of us when he spun the dreams, the belief "you can do it" attitude. I was in your organization a few years ago and remembered when my husband and I first laid eyes on your home. I was speechless. I remembered looking up and seeing the two of you looking out of your window at us. We thought we would be told to leave but you and George just waved and waved at us. At that time, I knew that you all were kind and warm spirited people. Even though I'm no longer in Quixtar I always keep the saying that I heard George say..Dream Big!!! And that's what I do!! Some people have a smile that can light up a room. George had a smile and an infectious laugh that lit up the world. He was a barrier breaker and a dreamer that inspired tens if not hundreds of thousands. That is what we are here for - is to be difference makers. George fulfilled this fully and that is his legacy.

Ruth & Family,
The contribution that George made to the lives of many on the island of Bermuda cannot be measured. I remember first hearing "This is Diamond" in my car: I drove around the island because I didn't want to stop the tape until it was finished. People must have thought I was crazy, laughing so hard, by myself! He helped us to realize that success is for everyone: race, creed, or personality, '...as long as you don't hurt anyone in the process.' Thank you for sharing him with the world.

Our hearts go to you, as well as Karen and Kissy, at this time. To say that you both have impacted our lives would be an understatement. We cherish the friendship we enjoyed with George and the one we still have with you. And with George moving to Heaven, we know it is lit up even more with his precious presence. You, Ruth, are precious to us. We love you.

To the Halsey Family,
I was so saddened to hear about George's passing. I remember you all from my childhood, our families crossed paths by way of The DeGraffenriedt's (my Aunt Mary and Uncle Fred), The McKinnie's (The late Gene and the late JoAnn), The Wall (Butch and Ann) and The Brown's( Eric and Betty). I remember you all coming to Kerr Lake and camping with us many years ago. Please lake comfort in knowing that God makes no mistakes and he will uphold you during this difficult time. You all are in our prayers.

To the Halsey family, you are in my prayers. I know God will strengthen all of you in your time of sorrow. I just received an email from Joyce Fauntleroy informing me of the passing of George.
You and George always have been an inspiration in my life. I was in Amway years ago under Diamond Dave and Frances Griles. Rev David Edwards and I were talking about the both of you on last week. We were speaking about the good times we had, and all the powerful words that George instilled in us.
George will truly be missed, both of you both are loved by so many.
Ruth I have been in several other businesses since Amway and I have never experienced the love that I felt while under your leadership. We had an awesome team, we know Teamwork Makes The Dream Work!
May God continue to bless you and your family.

Dear Ruth & Family,

I had the wonderful privilege of hearing you and George speak at an Amway rally about 15 years ago. Your enthusiasm and passion for life was truly evident as you spoke.

May God's peace and presence saturate you now and may you experience His awesome loving embrace in a very powerful way during this time.

Please be encouraged with these verses of Scripture from Isaiah.

I've picked you. I haven't dropped you.' Don't panic. I'm with you. There's no need to fear for I'm your God. I'll give you strength. I'll help you. I'll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.
Isaiah 41:10

But I'll take your hand when you don't know the way, when you can't see where you're going. I'll be a personal guide to you, directing you through unknown country. I'll be right there to show you what roads to take, make sure you don't fall into the ditch. These are the things I'll be doing for you— sticking with you, not leaving you for a minute."
Isaiah 42:15-16

Both Scriptures taken from "The Message Bible"

Keeping you in prayer,
Your Friend In Christ,

We are continually lifting you all up in our prayers. We will never forget your loving caring and sharing ways. Twanda & I will always remember how you opened your home to our family when she went into kidney failure, nor the personal time we spent at Fred & Vonia's. You all have set your lives as an example of how to love people unconditionally. Uncle George will always live in our hearts.
