To the George Johnson family this has to be the most difficult time of your life, We grew up as little children an Washington Street Church of God...an later you worked with my husband on the Gary Fire Dept.. for over 30 years.. Wilfred Phillips ..RIP

My condolences go out to George's family on his recent passing. I met George in '73 when I joined the Gary Fire Department. We trained together as Paramedics/EMTs back in the day. George was assigned to Medic 509 and I to Medic 504. He always had a positive attitude and was a great guy. He will be sorely missed by those of us who knew him well.

My sincerest condolences to all of you. "Butch" will truly be missed. I have known George since middle school, and we became friends as we graduated from The Roosevelt High School Class of 1965. We both served on the Gary Fire Department for over 20 years. He was a dedicated firefighter and one of Gary's finest.
