George W. Jacobs

East Kingston, NH – Mr. George W. Jacobs, of East Kingston, died Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at his home. He was 70. George was born in Waltham on April 8, 1948, a son of the late Mathew L. and Charlotte C. (Cody) Jacobs, and lived in Sudbury before moving with his family to Weston as a teen. He graduated from Weston High School in 1966 and after that trained in aircraft maintenance at East Coast Aero Tech. During the Vietnam War George served for four years with the United States Navy as an aviation anti-submarine warfare operator. He had been a longtime member of the American Legion, most recently in Exeter, New Hampshire. Until his retirement he worked for Camp, Dresser and McKee, an environmental engineering firm in Cambridge. A New Hampshire resident for the past five years, George had previously lived in Lincoln and in Waltham. George was a lifelong nature and wildlife enthusiast who could often be found fishing at his favorite spots or enjoying the solitude of birdwatching. He leaves his son, James B. Jacobs (Natalie) of Raymond, New Hampshire; his grandson, Ryan DeVincent; and his brothers, Peter K. Jacobs (Frank Atkinson) of Southboro and Thomas M. Jacobs (Juleen LeBlanc) of Jefferson, New Hampshire. George was also a brother of the late Steven W. Jacobs. Family and friends will honor and remember George's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, June 7th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday morning when his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
