George Jensen Obituary
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.
George Nichols Jensen was born Feb. 13, 1936, in Oneonta, N.Y., to Knud and Aldyth (Nichols) Jensen. He died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Charter House in Rochester.
George graduated from the University of South Dakota in Vermilion, and served two years in the United States Army. After he was discharged, he graduated from Luther Seminary in St. Paul and later the University of Minnesota in Nursing Home Administration. He served churches in Fremont, Ohio, Austin, Moscow and Oakland, and Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rochester. He retired in 1998 from the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield. George married Edith A. Hanson in 1964 and they were later divorced. He married Karen Pearson Teske in 1986.
George loved the outdoors. He enjoyed backpacking in Colorado and Montana, canoeing the Boundary Waters, motorcycling, bicycling and camping. He was an avid fan of Gopher sports.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Jensen of Rochester; daughters, Julie (Randy) Beck of Cocoa, Fla., Laura (Jon) Ware of Mashpee, Mass., and Kristin (Mark) Pretasky of La Crosse, Wis.; stepchildren, Sue (Mike) O'Brien of St. Paul and Jacob (Kate) Teske of Huntersville, N.C.; grandchildren, Nathan, Sean, Max, Kody, Luke, Joey, Julia, Brita, Anna and Elyanna; sisters, Dorothy Kingsmore of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Fran (John) Schuyler of Rochester, N.Y.; and his former wife, Edith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Jensen.
Memorials can be directed to Seasons Hospice or the Zumbro Lutheran Choir.

I wish you my condolences on George's passing. He was called home to his father and is in a better place. He was very loved and I remember him marrying Don and I as well as baptizing my daughter Erin at OSLC. You were both always there for my mother, Esther, and that was always appreciated. God Bless George and your family.

I have fond memories of Pastor George at OSLC in Rochester. I surely do remember his presence during the building of the new church-- He always had a caring and positive attitude which he projected to us; my deepest sympathy to his family. May he rest in peace..

To Karen and George's girls: I have great memories of George as my pastor when I was a kid in Fremont. He had a great smile, a large laugh, and a gracious and energetic spirit-which I know endured for his 78 years. We all have been blessed to know him! God's peace be with you as you grieve and go forward.
