In randomly searching the Charlotte Observer Obituaries today for people from the past, my heart was broken when I saw Dr. Linney's picture. I worked as his nurse at the Nalle Clinic Pediatrics in the early 80's and thanks to him, we were a great team. Even though he was the doctor, he was always right there to help, never letting pride or his ego get in the way. He'd clean a room then go to the waiting room for the next patient if I was busy in a room with another; always efficient and moving so the days went fast. One funny memory was when this very tall, lanky ~14 year old boy was afraid and became defiant in getting he tetanus shot. He was pushing and kicking me and Dr. Linney came in the room, put him in a strong hold; they both landed on the floor where I finally gave him his booster. Most days when we finished early he'd say "why don't y'all take a two hour lunch...we'll start back at 2:30; so rewarding for us and he'd get his run in. I wasn't there too long as I moved back North due to being homesick, but I never forgot what a great boss and person he was and how much he inspired me. My heart goes out to you; Barbara, Allison, George and Families. I'm sure he will live on forever in your hearts as I know he will mine. Fondly, Patti (Cochran) Kehrer

Earl and I just learned of George's passing last year. I worked with George at The Nalle Clinic and we were close couple friends years ago in Charlotte. I shared an office at the clinic with George. Though belated: George you were an inspiration to me. May Your Memory Be A Blessing. Love, Linda and Earl Backman

What an extraordinary and rich life. So much is implied by his love of hymns, tithing, and the mission with which he treated the practice of Medicine and served his family and community. In those ways I am pleased to say that I try to live the same way, so I understand that view of life. Rest in Peace, great man and physician.

Words can hardly express all the contributions George and Barbara made to the Myers Park Baptist community here in Charlotte. They worked hard, gave generously but most of all were wonderful role models. Rest In Peace, George.
