LITTLEMORE, Lt.-Col (ret.)
George Edward
Knight of Grace, Order of St. John
Died peacefully on August 29, 2011, at age 85. A proud career military officer who served in Europe, Korea, Japan and Egypt, he also enjoyed a second career as BC Provincial Secretary to St. John Ambulance. He was an active parishioner at St. John's Shaughnessy, a Master Gardener and volunteer coordinator at VanDusen Botanical Garden and a frequent volunteer at St. Jude's Anglican Home. He was fortunate in his two great loves: to the late Lavinia (Vicki) Littlemore nee Shubrook; and the late Penelope Littlemore nee (Braide) Teare. He is survived by brother Robert Littlemore, by devoted children Brenda Chaddock (Malcolm Chaddock) and Richard Littlemore (Elizabeth Littlemore), by stepchildren Mark Teare (Irene de Bruin) and Alexandra Teare, and by loving grandchildren Devon Carr; Ted, Avery and Llewellyn Littlemore; and Hugo and Emily Teare. A Memorial Service will be held at St. John's Shaughnessy, 1490 Nanton Ave., Vancouver, September 20, 2011 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations please to St. John Ambulance.

George was my first Boss in the Army. As a newly minted (1963) 2Lt I couldn't have had a better role model than George both as an Officer and as an all round great person. I fondly recall the meals with he and Vicki who took pity on a young, single officer stuck in the wilds of Wainwright.

I liked and deeply respected George Littlemore and never forgot the lessons I learned from him - some harder than others I might add.

To the family I can but offer my sincerest condolences. We were all fortunate to have known him.

Colonel (ret'd) Jim Stewart RCASC
