I was a friend of George Wahl Logemann. He hired me at Rockland State Hospital in late 1969 as a PL/I programmer. I had the privilege of reading some of his code in PL/I, and it was poetry. There are three legendary programmers whose code has simply thrilled me: Trevor Barker, author of the IBM 7030 Stretch Assembly program; Stu Nelson, author of the Information International III-15 Assembler; and George Logemann, who wrote poetry in a single line of PL/I. Today is 14 January 2013; I just found this obit. What a waste his dying is! I wish I'd been able to meet him one more time.

my wife celesta and I are both so sad to hear of his passing.
we do have several letters from him that we are trying to find.

Bernice, Thank you for your call today. I extend our sincerest and most heartfelt condolences to you and your family. I shall dearly miss my cousin and the long talks we used to have. More over, I regret that Laura and I did not have the opportunity to visit the two of you. I shall, however, cherish the memory of Grandmummy, Auntie Bun, Uncle Hugh and George, whenever we were together.

George was my first cousin. His father Hugo Logemann and my mother Lina Logemann were siblings.
I have such wonderful memories of George W and know how very much he loved you Bernice.
