George E. "Herby" Lux

George 'Herby' Lux AVON George E. "Herby" Lux, 79, of 1300 E. Cumberland St., Avon, died Friday, April 27, 2007, in the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Marian R. Gettle Lux to whom he was married 53 years. He was born May 12, 1927, in Avon to the late Charles and Hannah Miller Lux. He was a retired employee of Quaker Alloy Inc. of Myerstown. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Lebanon, where he had served as deacon, and was a founding member of the Checkered Flag Fan Club. He was a member of the Friendship Fire Co., Avon Fire Co., Avon Playground Association; a life member of the Lebanon County Firemen's Association. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Robert, husband of Patricia Lux, Cincinnati, OH; Harold Lux, Tamaqua; Edward Lux, Cleona, Gary Lux, Reading; daughters, Trudy Smith, Lebanon; Karen, wife of John Yermalovich, Lebanon; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard, husband of Betty Lux, Annville; sister, Catherine, wife of Richard Youtz, Lebanon. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold "Lucky" Lux. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Rohland Funeral Home, 5th & Cumberland St., Lebanon, with a viewing beginning on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
