My description of Father Magoon would be he radiated love, through his sparkling eyes, beautiful smile, warm chuckle, full belly laugh, and comforting hugs.
In choosing (below) how I knew him, he was my Priest, teacher, leader, most of all my friend.
loved him.

Father Magoon, one of the most wonderful people I have ever met.
He was so kind, giving, and genuine. He tried so hard to teach me patience, change happens slowly, and when fighting for social justice one has to compromise. However; and most importantly, never stop fighting.
RIP dear Father, I love you.
My prayers to the family. You are still missed and loved at St. Paul's in Louisburg.

George and I met on a train when I was traveling home to Cleveland from Smith College for Christmas vacation during WWII. I believe he was on his way to an Army base at the time. He subsequently came to visit me and my classmates at Smith, and we kept in touch by mail while he was serving in Europe and eventually awaiting transportation home from a resort in the south of France.
Today I found his letters mixed in with other correspondence from the war years, and would be happy to forward them to his widow if she would like them.
With happy memories of George,

I was so surprised to see a much loved name from my past , Father George, my pastor when he was at St! Luke's in Woodsville, NH . My sister and I babysat the Magoon girls (boys had not arrived yet). And it was Father George that came back to Woodsville to conduct my dad, Cliff Amadon's funeral in 1962. After all these years, the Magoon Family maintains a special place in my heart. Had I only known he lived in South Burlington, as I do, I would have loved to reconnect. I do hope to lay my respects at his service on Saturday. My condolences to the Magoon Family..
