George R. Meyer

Today a good friend told me George passed in April. As a member of the BPHS Student Government for 4 years, I am unable to put into words the contribution George Meyer made on my life. His leadership, friendship, counsel, and advice made me who I am and what I do today. Tomorrow, as a stand in front of my classes and meet with my student organization I will feel his presence. I hope that I will be able to affect my students as much he affected me. Thanks to his family for sharing him with us. My prayers are with you.

I only wished we had known this valuable person who educated our children and made such an impression in our community. Condolences and blessings to the Meyer family.......always.

I was deeply sadened to hear of the passing of Mr Meyer. What a great educator! I graduated from BPHS in '73. Mr Meyer was so involved with the students and was a teacher who just REALLY cared about his students -- actually all of the students at BPHS. Someone who made an impact on our lives after all of these years. My sincere sympathy to his family. May he rest in peace!

Mr. Meyer was one of Bethel Park's finest. I just loved his class and his work ethic...so full of energy, love and fun. Not only did he teach me in 1994/95, but he taught my mom in 1974/75. May he rest in peace!

I have been out of town and learned only today ( 4/23 ) of George's sudden death. He was a fine educator, good friend and a great man....GO IRISH

I wish all teachers had George's work ethic and desire to see students succeed in life. He was one of a kind! He was very influential in my high school life and helped me grow to be a leader at BPHS '83.

I would like to thank Mr.Meyer for being one of the most influential indiviuals in my life. He always pushed me to do better, to work harder, and to add a little more sparkle to everything that I do.

Mr. Meyer,

You were one of the most inspirational people I have ever met. Thank you for all of the fond memories at BPHS. You will forever be remembered for your big heart and caring nature. Thank you for bringing out the best in me! Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I first heard of Bethel Park High School in 1978, when I was just a sophomore in a high school 160 miles to the North, thanks to an incredible Student Government State Conference, led by George Meyer. Eighteen years later I would have the priviledge to work across the hall from the great teacher who was responsible for inspiring youth across the Commonwealth. George's leadership continues to inspire the people who knew him in whatever arenas of life they now participate. His legacy of compassion, patience, wisdom, inspiration, and leadership will live on for scores of years to come in the lives of all BP students, teachers, friends, and family.

Mr Meyer was probably one of my favorite teachers at the high school. It is a shame to lose such a wonderful man and fine educator. Thank you Mr Meyer!

Mr. Meyer was the teacher who changed me. He made sure that every student was included and pushed us further than we thought we could go. He wouldn't sign my yearbook until I was a senior, and I made sure he was the first to sign it. He always had such a positive attitude and there should be more people like him. I graduated from Bethel Park in 2000 and Mr. Meyer has never been far from my thoughts.

He helped me break through who I was and to be confident in who I am. He will be sorely missed, and I send my love and condolences to his family.

Ruth, Sheri & Erin - My thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve the loss and celebrate the life of a tremendous man who was so much to so many people. I learned so much from George as a student council member at BPHS that has helped me to become the person I am today. I also enjoyed my interactions with all of you as I babysat your (at the time) little girls. He was one of a kind who should have been cloned long before he retired - his enthusiasm and caring were contagious! Keep your memories of him alive - they'll bring all of you comfort and mean so much even to his grandchildren.

As both a family member as well my teacher in high school, Mr. Meyer was an amazing role model to me. Mr. Meyer was an inspiration to everyone that he met and contributedly positively to the world in so many ways. He will truly be missed!

While checking the news from home, we were quite saddened to learn of George's death. He was a wonderful neighbor, one of Bethel Park's finest educators, and an all around great guy. He'll be missed by the many his life touched.

I have known Mr. Meyer for a very long time. I knew him as the father to one of my earliest friends Erin, as a friend to my father and my mother, and as a man to look up to for my brother Thad. Later on in my life I knew him as a teacher, a teammate on our bowling team, and finally as a friend. I remember him most as a person that always treated me as a man at all points in my life. He was one of the few people in this world that I can honestly say that I truely respected. He will be missed.
