George Monk

We are sad to announce that on October 8th, 2022, at the age of 68, George Monk passed away after a short but valiant battle with cancer.

George was born on January 23rd, 1954 in Yorkshire, England, grew up in Harpenden, and then attended Leeds University where he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering.

After university, George left the UK for the US where he met his wife, Mary. George's career took them to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Texas, Michigan, Arizona, the Netherlands, and finally California where they settled in Cupertino to raise their three children.

After 30 years in finance and becoming a CFO, George proudly retired early-which allowed him to fulfill his lifelong dream of living in Hawaii, before moving back to Northern California to be closer to friends and family. In his free time George was an avid pilot and scuba diver, who enjoyed home DIY projects, walking the dogs, and reading to his granddaughters.

George is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Betty Monk, and his beloved dog Jack. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Mary Monk; children, Phillip, Patrick (wife Kayla), and Paige; siblings, Robert, Allison, Stella, and Valerie; and granddaughters, Charlotte and Eleanor.

He will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites loved ones to make a donation in memory of George to Archbishop Mitty High School for the purposes of supporting the students of AMHS. George spent over a decade serving on the board and took great joy in volunteering his time at the school.
