George Mouradian, 94

Worcester - George Mouradian, 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the Jewish Healthcare Center. Born and raised in Worcester, George was the son of Armenian immigrants Armenag and Mary (Najarian) Mouradian and lived here all his life.

After graduating from South High School in 1943, George enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served his country during World War II. George was stationed in El Passo, TX before being deployed to the European Theater of operations in England and France.

Returning home from the service in 1946, George met the love of his life, Helen Kerkorian at a church picnic. They married on September 19, 1948 at the Armenian Church of Our Savior and settled in Worcester where they raised their two children.

George owned and operated taxi cabs in Worcester for 35 years. George was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour and was a Bingo Caller for over 20 years. He was a member of Knights of Vartan, Worcester Chapter, Arshavir Lodge #2, and a former chairman of the Educational Society of Malatia.

He loved sitting on his deck and visiting with his neighborhood friends. He looked forward to weekly lunch with his buddies at Lou Roc's Diner. He was a family man who cherished time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

George will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 71 years, Helen (Kerkorian) Mouradian; his daughter, Judy Mouradian and her husband, Ted Ruetenik of Newburyport; his son, Steven and his wife, Marie of Holden; two grandchildren Ryan Mouradian and his wife, Jessica, and Amy Mouradian and her fiancé, Daniel Gattoni; two great-grandchildren Reed and Cora; a brother in law, George Kerkorian of Marston Mills; and two sisters in law, Diana Adamian of Arlington, Andrea Wallack of Waltham; and many nephews and nieces. Besides his parents, George is predeceased by his two brothers, Charles and Bert Mouradian.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with George's family from 10 to 12 noon on Thursday, December 5, at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street, Worcester followed by a Funeral Service at 12 noon at the Church. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609 or to Veterans, Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605. To know him was to love him. Gidge - a wonderfully kind man with great humor and an enthusiasm for life that never failed. My memories of George recall his love for family, his boundless optimism and his broad enjoyment of simple pleasures. In my case, he was an oft-needed father figure but I know he represented something special and unique to everyone he touched, and he touched many. I'm so glad to have known him. My deepest and most heartfelt condolences go out to his beloved Helen, and to Judy and Steve, who I know meant the world to him.

I'll miss George a lot. He always made us feel like family. This meant even more ... especially during the holidays. He was in some ways, my dad too. When I totaled my car as a kid he saw the big contusion on my head, and he said: "..so i can see you didn't get hurt". I'll always remember the laughter, and his uncanny way of finding the good in things. He was a great guy, and although he gone, his spirit will live on always. RIP Geo.
