Agnew will assist. A reception will follow the service in the Guild Hall of the church. George died on June 4, 2016, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

George was born on July 20, 1946, in Durant, Oklahoma, to Martha Cason and George W. Oge, Sr. He attended public schools in Durant and Hobbs, New Mexico, graduating high school from New Mexico Military Institute, Roswell, NM. He attended Tyler Junior College, The University of Texas at Austin and Southeastern State University in Durant, OK. George was an Eagle Scout.

He served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He completed Officer Candidate School and was selected for the Old Guard, the US Army Drill Team in Washington, DC.

In the late 1970s George and his wife, Dot, moved to Tyler where he joined his father in the Oge Oldsmobile, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz dealership which had been established in 1966. A generation of East Texans bought their cars from this master salesman.

He was a member of the Order of the Rose, a founding member of the Centurion Club and an active member of Willow Brook Country Club.

In early 2000, George moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and graduated from Florida Metropolitan University with a degree in Hotel Management. He remained in Florida until his death.

Along with his parents, George was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Blanche and Ed Cason, and stepmother, Patricia Payne Oge.

He is survived by his children, George Woodward Oge, III and Catherine (Cecie) Oge Turlington and her husband, Kyle, and their children, Will, Reid and Cate, all of Houston; his sisters and their husbands, DeeDee and John Bufe, Carrie and Sam Wolf, all of Tyler, and Nanette and Bill West of Memphis, TN; stepbrothers and sister, Bill Warren (Beverly), Dallas, Don Warren (Chelli), Tyler, and Nancy Pfeifle (Peter), Hideaway; and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

George will be greatly missed by his family and a group of friends who were and are devoted to the memory of all the good times with the Big O.

So, we'll go no more a-roving

So late into the night.

Though the heart be still as loving,

And the moon be still as bright.

For the sword outwears its sheath,

And the soul wears out the breast,

And the heart must pause to breathe,

And love itself have rest.

Though the night was made for loving,

And the day returns too soon,

Yet we'll go no more a-roving

By the light of the moon.

Sending Love to Nanette and the Oje Family

I am from Tyler myself and George was one of my dearest friends here in Fort Lauderdale. He was known as "Tyler George" and was considered a kind and loving friend to us all. George loved music and could dance the night away! Always known to tip his hat to say "God Bless You"
His friends in Fort Lauderdale will forever remember his essence dancing among the stars!
"God Bless You, Tyler George"

Perhaps they are not the stars,
But rather openings in heaven where
The love of our lost ones pours through
And shines down upon us to let us know they are happy
