George Allen Opfer

George Allen Opfer, 67, of Monongahela, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, in the Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born May 31, 1944, in Monongahela, the son of Louis C. and Loretta Jean Huston Opfer. George was formerly employed in the Forge Department at U.S. Steel, Clairton Works. For over 20 years, he was a painter at General Woodcrafting in Canonsburg. George enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, being outdoors, nature and hunting. He was very hard working, had good values and was a loving husband and protector of his wife and daughter. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Langendorf Opfer, with whom he celebrated 47 years of marriage on July 18, 2011; daughter, Christine L. and husband, Anthony G. Saccamango, of Wilkins Township; brothers, Louis Eugene and wife, Cindy Opfer, of Monongahela, and Gary Wayne Opfer, of Boston.
