It haas taken me this long to write a message about my friend George. I I I still can't believe he is no longer with us. We shared so much with our interests in (60s) music, films and TV and I spent many a happy hour in his company reminiscing about the good old days'.
I will miss the blether, the endless cups of tea and choicie biscuits but most of all, I will miss the presence of a great man.

I knew George from work initially. He and Pat took me under their wings as I was so far from home and family. I remember their commitment to the YMCA and they got me involved too. Pat took care of me on her ward when I had my first son - and gave him his first bath which I never let him forget. George spent ages with my husband choosing the perfect song for our first dance at our wedding- I still have the cd they made of the shortlisted songs in my car which is my go to sing a long on my own in the car! I know how sad I am at this news so my thoughts go to you and all the family. RIP George I hope you are with Pat once again.

So sad to hear. I lived in Bellevue Road but knew George through the YMCA. A lovely man who was passionate about his music. Condolences to his family. Anne Maguire, Australia
The whole troop at the salt mine. George is 6th from front and I'm 2nd from rear (by process of elimination!)

My name is Peter Brown and I lived in Bellevue Gardens (No.22) in the 50's and 60's. George was my wee pal during that time and we shared adventures during our early years. I've added a photo which I am fairly sure is of George and me. As well as being neighbours we were both in the Scouts and I have a photo of the 11th Waverley Scouts trip to Konigsee near Salzburg. I'd be happy to forward this and others if requested. I left Edinburgh in 1969 for Cheshire but returned in 1989. By chance I met George briefly at a bus stop in the mid 90's.
My condolences to the family, sad to lose a good friend even if it was so long ago. RIP Peter
