George W. Ratcliff

Ratcliff George W. Ratcliff, age 81, of Blacklick, Ohio passed away January 13, 2017. He was born November 19, 1935 in Crum, WV to William and Stella (Haliday) Ratcliff; also preceded in death by siblings Glen, Mildred, Aileen, Minerva, Virginia and Mae. George is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Lois (Caudill) Ratcliff; son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Susie Ratcliff; beloved grandchildren, Kelsi and Zach; sisters-in-law, Faye (William) Estep, Dixie Meade and their families; niece, Linda Derrow, who was more like a daughter to George; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who thought the world of their uncle. George raised his family in Groveport where he became very instrumental in youth baseball. From assistant coach to president of the Groveport Little League, he impacted the lives of so many children. As time passed and he continued his contributions to youth baseball, later with Ohio Elite Baseball, he became affectionately known as Grandpa George. He truly made a difference in the lives of many young men. George was a talented and hard-working carpenter and a member of Carpenter's Local #200. Family will welcome friends 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, OH 43230 where service will be held at 12 noon Wednesday; interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens; Pastor Curtis Booth, officiating.
