George E. Sakellaris

In loving memory of George E. Sakellaris, 65 years, of Sudbury, who passed away Friday, September 28th, 2007. Beloved husband of Toula (Lagges) Sakellaris, and loving and proud father of Vagelli (wife Tara) of Sudbury. Cherished son of Vagelli and Eleni (Bekas) Sakellaris of Greece, both predeceased. Dear brother of Andrianos, Kristina, Ageliko, Stella (husband Christo) all of Greece, Nick (predeceased), and Bayba (husband Luigi) of Thunder Bay. Son-in-law of Sofia Lagges of Greece, brother-in-law to Kosta and Niki (husband George), both of Greece, Shirley and Peter of Sudbury, and Afroditi (husband George) of Ottawa. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and by his extended family of the Apollo Restaurant and his cherished friends. George was born in Epidavros, Greece; he came to Canada in 1961 to Thunder Bay and moved to Sudbury in 1965. He married the love of his life, partner and best friend Toula in 1967. Together, they created a Sudbury institution, The Apollo Restaurant. He was a dedicated and founding member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. George was a kind and caring man, the true definition of a gentleman. Donations to the St. Nicholas Church in Sudbury for a pew or to My Sudbury Needs A Hospice would be appreciated.
