George Staniotes

George was born in 1929 to his Greek immigrant parents, Peter and Elizabeth Staniotes, in East Ely, Nevada. He was the youngest of three children, and was preceded in death by his brother Angelo and sister Zella. As a young boy his family moved to San Francisco and he later graduated from Balboa High School in 1947. He served in the Air Force from 1948 – 1953 where he made many lifelong friends. He worked for the Contractor's State License Board until his retirement in 1994. George and Angelo were 49ers fans from the inception of the team – in both good times and not so good times. Thank you to the caregivers, nurses and staff of the Peninsula Del Rey.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen, and their children, Nikki and Tony (and grand puppy Ellie). He was very proud to be their father and rejoiced in their every accomplishment. He wanted them to have the best possible education and to be good people. We will miss you.

Services were held on December 13, 2017 with a private interment afterward. Donations may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 999 Brotherhood Way, San Francisco, CA 94132 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
