George was born in 1929 to his Greek immigrant parents, Peter and Elizabeth Staniotes, in East Ely, Nevada. He was the youngest of three children, and was preceded in death by his brother Angelo and sister Zella. As a young boy his family moved to San Francisco and he later graduated from Balboa High School in 1947. He served in the Air Force from 1948 – 1953 where he made many lifelong friends. He worked for the Contractor's State License Board until his retirement in 1994. George and Angelo were 49ers fans from the inception of the team – in both good times and not so good times. Thank you to the caregivers, nurses and staff of the Peninsula Del Rey.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

George & Carmen are my very favorite family! Such a wonderful family! George will be dearly missed. Kind, unselfish, genuine, honorable, always supportive. A real peacemaker. Wise and thoughtful, every word that came out of his mouth was gracious and worth hearing. He was a cut above the rest of us. I'm blessed to be his cousin. I always perked up when I saw George and Carmen. George lived a most worthy life, a real saint! This planet is now with one less noble soul! May his memory be eternal!

I worked with George for many years at CSLB. He was a good colleague, mixing a sense of justice with kindness and compassion. George will be missed by many people.
