George F. Sutherland

George F. Sutherland, 82, of Bellingham, died May 17, 2012, at Milford Regional Medical Center. He was raised in St. Peter's Parish, Dorchester, and lived in Quincy and Scituate. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alice (Fuller) Sutherland; his son, George Jr. and his wife, Debra, of Plainville, his son, Brian, of Bellingham; his daughters, Ann Marie Beaudette and her husband, Stephen, of Biddeford, Maine, Karen Giovannucci and her husband, Robert, of Needham, and Donna Moran and her husband, Jerry, of Bellingham. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Alfred, Ruth and Sister Joan M. Sutherland. George was a US Army veteran. He worked for the Gillette Company, was a teacher at Quincy Vocational Technical School and at Quincy Junior College. He was a graduate of Fitchburg State College. He received a master's degree at Boston State College. He was the former president and awarded "Man of the Year" in 1986 at RSES. He was on the advisory board of South Shore Vocational Technical School and was a charter member of the Braintree Elks, as well as a member of the Braintree DAV and Quincy Retired Teacher's Association. The funeral will be held Monday, May 21, at 9:30 a.m., at Cartier's Funeral Home, 151 So. Main St. (Rte. 126), Bellingham, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m., at St. Blaise Church. Visiting hours are on Sunday, May 20, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment is in Holyhood Cemetery.
