George Tanguay Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 4, 2025.
George Edward Tanguay, formerly of Cumberland, Rhode Island, Ashland, Massachusetts and Falmouth, Maine, left this world peacefully on August 28, 2025. Born in Cumberland on March 15,1939 he was the son of the late William and Theresa (George) Tanguay. George was preceded in death by his brother, William Tanguay Jr.

George lived 86 years as a kind, funny, hard working, loving, determined man. He married Dorothy Plante in 1960, and they remained married until her death in 2015. Together, they traveled to many destinations and enjoyed exploring all corners of the world. Undoubtedly, their favorite place to spend time was their home on Highland Lake in Falmouth, Maine.

George is survived by his children Janet Tetschner (Frank), Lori Tanguay, George Tanguay Jr. (Erin) and Ronda Palin (Jon) and eight beloved grandchildren: Jeff Tetschner, Nils Imboden, Gabbi Amor (Brian), Ben Tetschner, Kendall, Kaylee and Max Palin, and Eva Tanguay.

George lived a full life despite having Parkinson's Disease for the past 17 years. After his initial diagnosis, he truly took to heart the advice from his doctor that "rest is rust" and refused to let the disease slow him down. He owned Silton Glass Company in Framingham, MA and continued to work there into his eighties. Over the years, he loved spending time playing and watching tennis, working on house projects, and going out to dinner with his family.

Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service on September 28, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Cushing Memorial Chapel, 60 Dudley Road Framingham, MA. Immediately following the service, there will be a Celebration of Life at La Cantina Restaurant in Framingham, MA. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory can be made to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (https://www.michaeljfox.org/), or simply raise a glass of Chardonnay (with ice) in George's honor.

Sending you all love. Your dad was an amazing man!!! I know how much he loved you all. I have such great memories of him growing up and I was so happy to see him in Florida one last time. I will be thinking of you all and sending prayers. I'd like to believe he is with your mom again.
