George Anton Tempel It is with great sadness, the family of George Tempel announces the passing of a dear Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend to many who knew him. George passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14 at Saskatoon City Hospital. George was born March 16, 1929 to Henry and Gertrude Tempel in the Cudworth area. He married Leona Altrogge in 1957. The family lived in Cudworth where he continued to farm and drive school bus until 1974, at which time he moved his family to Saskatoon. Here he worked for the Separate School Board until retiring in 1987. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He leaves to mourn his wife of 52 years, Leona; daughter, Karen (Bob) Livingston of Martensville; sons, Dan (Maureen) of Chilliwack, Russ of Saskatoon, Loren (Caroline) of Chilliwack; grandchildren, Amanda and Lisa Livingston, Jacob and Sydney Tempel, Kristen and Kelsie Tempel, and Richelle and Ryan Tempel; brothers, John (Bernadette) Tempel of Kelowna and Henry Tempel Jr. of Saskatoon; along with many nieces and nephews. Also the many friends he has made along the way. George was predeceased by his parents, Henry Sr. and Gertrude; sisters, Catherine in infancy, Anna Marie Tempel, Agnes Diederichs and brother in law, Arthur Diederichs. Vigil for George will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Both services will be held at St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church (corner of Taylor Street and Munroe Avenue, Saskatoon, SK) with celebrant Rev. Fr. Joseph Nsiah. Rite of Committal will take place in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Leukemia Foundation would be appreciated. The family would like to take this time to thank Doctors Larson and Brose and all the nursing staff at City Hospital Ward 6200 for their care during his long stay in the hospital. Auntie Leona & family,
I am sad to hear about Uncle George...I have such vivid memories of his smile from when I was a child. I wish I could say this in person but please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
