George Edward von Gal III

With deep sorrow, we announce the death of George Edward von Gal III, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, who left us on December 30, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Donna, three sons, George IV (Emily), Christian (Barbara), and Nicholas (Jessica), and step-daughter Robin (Frank). He was a proud grandfather to his beloved grandchildren: Lindsay (Scott), Emma, Georgia, George V, Tess (Ryan), Wyn, Skye, Galyn, and Olan; step-grandchildren: Anne Louise, Katy, Ella Grace, Gabriel, Amelia, Isabel, Noah, and D'Ella, and great-grandchildren: Grayton, Chandler, and Dean.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George Edward von Gal, Jr. and Suzanne Bellingrath von Gal, and his brother William, and is survived by his sisters Marney and Suzy (Young).

As a veteran and proud member of the Marine Corps, he lived with an undeniable zest, embracing most moments fast and loud. A lifelong car enthusiast, he turned his fascination with engines and speed into a beloved hobby that showcased his creativity and skill. With a deep connection to the agricultural lifestyle, George dedicated himself to farming, raising cows, and showing cutting horses. He also found joy in fishing on the open water with his three sons and dear friends, spending countless hours offshore fishing. George's vibrant energy and dedication to his passions left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

George had a deep and abiding love for his extensive Bellingrath family, cherishing the bonds that connected them through generations. Throughout his life, he valued the guidance and camaraderie of his sisters, Marney and Suzy, and he held a special affection for them and their children. George was also incredibly proud of his beautiful grandchildren, often sharing stories of their achievements and lives with great pride and joy. George's love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life.

A lifelong resident of Montgomery, George had a special love for the small, close-knit community of Ramer, which he called home for nearly thirty years. He cherished his friendships and the sense of belonging the community brought to his life.

Services will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church in downtown Montgomery on Saturday, January 4, at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive visitors after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St John's Episcopal Church.
