George Thomas Webb

Ponte Vedra Beach - George Thomas Webb II passed away on November 11, 2025 at the age of 96. George was born in Greensboro, NC to the late Stafford and Jesse Johnstone Webb. George attended Curry High School and graduated from Denison University with degrees in music and history. He participated in the Little Theater in Greensboro, NC, playing major roles. With his beautiful tenor voice, George was active in the choir at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greensboro, NC, where he also played organ on occasion, and at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, NC. At St. Johns he was a lay reader and he was on the vestry. In his profession, he worked at Carolina Steel, in Greensboro, NC, Dave Steel in Asheville, NC, Hercules Steel and Fasco Industries in Fayetteville, NC. George was an avid reader, with a superior memory and knowledge of an abundance of trivia, and was an accomplished storyteller. Known to be a dog lover, he was a familiar sight in the Haymount neighborhood walking his corgi. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lt. Stafford Webb, and sister Margaret Wilson (Sam). He was survived by Barbara, daughter Melissa Webb Jurgens (DJ), son George Webb III (Amy), grandchildren Will Jurgens (Hannah), Tom Jurgens, John Jurgens, William Webb, Mary Catherine Webb, Sarah Jane Webb, niece Margaret Wilson, and nephew Peter Wilson (Barbara). Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.
