George Yee

Mr. George Staples Yee, 97, of Braddock Heights, passed away at his home on February 19, 2023. He was the loving husband of Patricia Yee, his wife of 64 years.



Born September 29, 1925 in Boston, MA, George was the son of the late Jew Yee and Shee Moy Yee. George attended Brighton High School in Allston MA and furthered his education earning his undergraduate degree from Northeastern University in Boston where he also earned his master's degree in microbiology. He continued his studies at the Harvard School of Public Health. He served in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps, earning the rank of Captain. When the Chemical Corps was decommissioned, he continued his career at the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases.



He was active in Scouting, the Braddock Heights Community Association, the Braddock Heights Lights Association, the Braddock Heights Pool Association, and instrumental with the Oratorical contest with the Braddock Heights Optimist Club. He was an avid collector known by many auctioneers in the Frederick area. He also enjoyed traveling with Patricia in their vintage Mustangs spending their winters in Florida and their summers on Cape Cod visiting flea markets, antique stores and stopping at a yard sale here and there during their travels.



In addition to his loving wife, George is survived by two sons, John David (Jody) Yee & wife Elizabeth Ann and Kenneth Staples Yee & wife Tamiko Lee; four grandchildren, Courtney Elizabeth Yee & husband Jason, Mackenzie Rae Cole & husband Tyler, Bethany Renee Yee and Joshua Richard Yee; a great-granddaughter, Charlie Lane; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Lum and Hilda Denman.
