Georgia Alexander Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 25, 2023.
Georgia Lee Alexander, nee Lough, 87, Union, departed this life Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023, in Sullivan.

Georgia was born Aug. 22, 1935, in St. Clair, the daughter of Edwin Armond Lough and wife Lena Bartle, nee Benton. On July 4, 1987, she was united in marriage to Harry Edward Alexander.

Georgia was a Christian and member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in St. Clair. During her working career, she was employed at Ballwin Motor Appliance for about 10 years and then at St. Clair Die Casting for about 25 years.

In her younger years, she enjoyed going fishing and mushroom hunting. Georgia loved working in her flower garden, canning vegetables and cooking big meals for family gatherings and holidays. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed watching the games. Georgia especially loved watching her grandchildren's sporting events. They were her pride and joy, and she cherished the time spent with them. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever be near to their hearts.

Georgia is survived by her children, Charlotte Stricker, Union, Morris "Butch" Nevills and wife Kathy, Lisa Nappier and husband Donald, all of St. Clair, and Lee Ritter and husband David, Sullivan; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Lena Lough; her husband, Harry Alexander; her brother, David Lough; her sisters, Dorothy James and Billie Lee; and her son-in-law, Earl Stricker.

A celebration of life was held from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, St. Clair, with a memorial service following at 3 p.m.

A graveside committal will take place at a later date at Crestview Memorial Park, St. Clair.

Memorials may be made to St. Clair Senior Center or Friendship Missionary Baptist Youth Group.

Arrangements were in care of Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
