Georgia Redding Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 19, 2015.
Georgia Redding, 93 years young, of Burleson, TX passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015. Georgia was born June 20, 1922, in Atlanta, Ga. She married Silas Redding on Feb. 12, 1943, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. They enjoyed 56 years together and had six children. A career mother and homemaker, Georgia had been a baker and seamstress in the past. She was, with her sister, a seamstress located at Hickam Field, when Pearl Harbor was attacked.
Georgia and her family lived all over the world, including Germany and many different army bases in the U.S. Georgia was a member of the Lane Prairie Baptist Church and a devoted Christian. Her son, Ron, said that he doesn't ever remember a morning that she was not up and reading her bible and working on her reading material. Deeply loved by her family and friends, Georgia will be missed greatly by those who knew her. Her husband, Silas, preceded her in death in 1997.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015, at the National Cemetery Pavilion in Fort Smith, Arkansas under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Survivors include her children, Richard Lewis, James Allen Redding, Michael Redding, Patricia Bailey, Jerry Redding and Ron Redding, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. To place online tributes visit www.edwardsfuneralhome.com.
