To the Barad family, sending belated condolences. Dr. Barad was my father's colleague (perhaps chair?) in the OB/GYN department at HMC in the mid to late 70s. I have fond memories him, how kind he was, and of visiting his greenhouse with all the succulents/cacti. He gave me a small cactus that was blooming with magenta flowers. So long ago. It meant so much. I am reading now about how beloved he was, and I am not surprised.

My condolences to the Barad Family. I was one of Dr Barads deliveries in 1958 by cesarean section. My mom had complete admiration for Dr Barad. Many thanks to him for bringing me into the world.

I am so sorry he has passed. He delivered my 2nd baby in August, 1957 when he was new at HMC. My husband enjoyed his practice of allowing the fathers in the delivery room. He introduced many new practices at HMC.

My deepest sympathy on the loss of your dad, Dr. Barad. I just learned of his passing and also of your mother. I was his secretary at HMC many years ago. I always looked for his plants at the Phila. Flower Shop and will miss seeing them this year. I have many fond memories of him.

To the family of Dr. Barad and Bea - Two beautiful people that we have known since Dr. Barad delivered our first baby 55 years ago. Our pleasure to have know them both for so many years and a loss for many. Just know that they both touched many lives and will be sorely missed. God bless.

My sincere condolences on the passing of Gerry .
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I knew him from the cactus and succulent society .
Over the years he was an excellent mentor and educator to all of us .
Gerry's plants live on in many of our homes; he was an incredible fount of cactus knowledge who will be missed.

How sad that a man so devoted to family and his community is now gone. I will always treasure the time spent with him in his greenhouses, seeing such marvelous plants and listening to his extensive knowledge on them. How wonderful were his displays at the Philly Flower Show, many of which I photoed as the garden editor for The Democrat. The paper published my article on the couple, Bea was always his full partner, he said, when we talked about his achievement. It gave me joy to laud them both and share their story with the community.
I also remember my visits to the farm, sitting at the kitchen table for lunch, talking about exceptional tomatoes, eating them and saving seeds. The world is a better place, having cradled this loving couple. Farewell, loving friends.
