Gerald Bergdorf Obituary
Born November 18, 1936 in Akron, Ohio, Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Jeane, and proudly went on to serve in the Marine Corps. He then joined the Akron Police Department, serving 30 years before retiring as Sergeant. He experienced his retirement to the fullest by snow-birding in Florida, playing golf, riding his whizzer bikes and enjoying his family.
Reunited with his wonderful parents (Gerald and Alice) and brother (Donald) and sister (Wilda), he leaves to celebrate his life and carry on his memory, his devoted wife of 57 years, Barb; daughters, Becki (Ken) Pastier, and Liz Higbie; sons, Bob (Diana) Bergdorf and Greg (Stacy) Bergdorf; along with 12 amazing grandchildren and three precious great-grandchildren and many great friends he has collected over the years.
The family will greet friends on Friday, July 19, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the narthex of Nativity of the Lord Church, 2425 Myersville Rd., Akron, OH 44312. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m., with Father Dave Halaiko officiating. Inurnment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice and Danbury Woods for their compassion and care during Jerry's journey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
