COOK, Gerald A. "Gerry", 71, of Scituate, formerly of Braintree, passed away on November 18, 2022, at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham, MA, surrounded by his loving family after fighting a courageous two-year battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Beloved and devoted husband to his wife Patricia E. (Foley) Cook. Loving father of Kevin Cook of Braintree and Molly Cook of Providence, RI. Adoring "Papa" to Leah and Mason Cook. Brother of Karen McNabb of Braintree, Robert Cook of Brockton, Kenneth Cook and his wife Nancy of Lititz, PA, Ricky Cook of Abington, and Elizabeth McDonough and her husband Gary of Braintree. Brother-in-law to Thomas and Theresa Rowan of Broomfield, CO, Gary and Barbara MacKinnon of Scituate, Daniel and Sharon Foley of Stafford, VA, David and Maureen Foley of Chelmsford, and Brian and Mary McKenna of Easton. Gerry is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Robert W. and Sylvia E. (Rautiala) Cook, as well as his brother Stephen Cook.

Gerry was born in Milton and grew up in Braintree, graduating from Braintree High School in 1969. He was also a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College and the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. He worked for over forty years as a software engineer for some of the top medical device companies in the area. Gerry was a lifelong athlete, sports enthusiast, and Boston sports fan. He enjoyed every aspect of athletics. A competitive runner who completed several marathons, he also enjoyed playing softball with close friends for many years. He coached every youth sport for both of his children, and would have loved nothing more than to watch his grandchildren's games. During the past twenty years, Gerry became an avid golfer, and he played with dear friends every year in the "Orlando Open".

Gerry was a devoted family man, married to Patty for over 41 years, and he loved spending quality time with those he loved. He was a role model of humility, sincerity and kindness. His gentle spirit touched everyone he knew.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 30, at 11 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 308 W. Squantum St., Quincy, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree, MA on Tuesday, November 29, from 4-8 p.m.
