Gerald Dean DeLozier was born June 4, 1931, to Bert and Susie (Androy) DeLozier in Woodbine. He died on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home at the age of 80 years, five months and 16 days. Bert was killed in a car accident when Gerald was just nine years old. The family then returned to Woodbine and Gerald entered the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Gerald married Katherine Oliver on June 20, 1954. The couple was blessed with five children. The family moved to Omaha, Neb. in 1958 where Gerald started driving a truck for 10 years for Standard Metal. He then worked for the city of Omaha and he retired from this job at the age of 59 ½. Gerald wintered in Texas for several years.

Gerald enjoyed fishing, camping, singing and spending time with family. Gerald was a people person and never met a stranger.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; step father; three sisters, Audie Schultz, Mary Ann Richardson and Grace Hinkel; son, Randy DeLozier; son-in-law, Barry Corbitt; granddaughter, Amie Jo McQuinn and great granddaughter, DaLanica Matlock. He is survived by Katherine Oliver of Little Sioux; four children, Robert DeLozier and his wife Jackie of Wenatchee, Wash., Cheryl Corbitt of Onawa, Michael DeLozier of Crescent, Vickey and her husband Ramon Cordoba of Omaha, Neb.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Edward DeLozier and his wife Joyce of Dunlap; sister, Janice and her husband Gene Allen of Council Bluffs; and many other relatives and friends.
