As a long-time teacher at RHS, I came to know Gerry well. As the only person on staff who knew how to operate that new-fangled Video Tape machine, he was invaluable. His smile and pleasant demeanor raised all of our spirits, staff and students alike.

I was very sad to hear of Mr. Dufour's passing. He always had a nice smile on his face. He was a pleasure to see at school everyday. His family is fortunate to have had him for so many years. He will be lovingly missed.
R.I.P. dear soul.

Mr. Dufour probably didn't realize just how much he made a difference in some of the quieter, shy students at Riverside during the 80's. When I was a teen, I felt all the peer pressures that everyone else did, but Mr. Dofour always had a smile and a positive outlook on things and always made me feel better after a brief chat, even without telling him what was on my mind. He just seemed to know and sense that I had alot on my mind and knew how to get me to smile. You will be missed Mr. Dufour, and always remembered very fondly by so many Rebels. My heart goes out to the entire family...how blessed you all were to have him in your family. Sincerely, Cindy Karch (nee Pietras)

I've known Gerry ever since I was a student at Riverside in 1971 and we became good friends as he encouraged me both as a musician and as a person to become the best I could be..I have a photo in my music room of Gerry & Frank Switlicki playing together..and now they are both playing in God's band..

We were VERY fortunate to have Mr. Dufour for MANY years at Riverside High! Picking UP after some :\ and warm greetings and smiles every day! I had the pleasure of returning that gesture, by serving HIM each Sunday Morning at Harvey's Restaurant (that i worked as a teen) while he enjoyed his retirement buddies! :D Such a KIND, friendly and GENTLE man--full of heart! We will surely MISS you Mr. Dufour! :'( You touched MANY hearts!

Mr. Dufour was a truly delightful man who was so well loved by the students of Riverside at least as far back as 1970 when I began and was one of the people you really looked forward to seeing in the halls and saying hello to. On a more personal note, he was a RCN friend of my father in law, William 'Bing' Topping who passed in May of 2010. Sending sincerest condolences to your family.

I was very fortunate to have had the privilege of working with Gerry when I was principal of Riverside High School for two years 1982 to 1984. Gerry was our TA and helped supervise the cafeteria during lunch hour. He was respected by the students for the kind way in which he could deal with their problems. I know everyone respected him for being a great helper and for being a true gentleman. My deepest sympathies to the Dufour family. You lost a wonderful member of your family and one who everyone who had contact with him will remember him with great fondness.
Sincerely,
Mike Saffran

Mr. Dufour worked at the highschool I attended (Riverside), He was a lovely gentleman who touched many of the students and faculties lives with his gentle, good humoured nature. He was able to keep our lunch room in line, which was no small feat!!! Rest in peace Mr. Dufour!!!
