Gerald Edward McNally, Jr., affectionately known as Gerry, passed away on March 18, 2024, at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, Colorado.
Born on December 21, 1930, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to Gerald Edward McNally, Sr. and Margaret Louise McConnell McNally, Gerry attended Monsignor James Coyle High School and earned a degree in Construction Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.
Upon graduating college in 1953, Gerry embarked on a successful career in the construction industry. As the President of G.E. McNally Construction Company in Somerset, Massachusetts, he worked alongside his brother to build numerous churches, schools, hospitals, water and sewage treatment plants, and other significant structures. In 1979, he relocated to Denver, Colorado, to take on a senior management position with the Petri-Vappi Company, where he was involved in the construction of many well-known Denver area commercial buildings.
Throughout his life, Gerry was dedicated to giving back to his communities. In addition to his many volunteer endeavors, he played a key role in the founding of the Slades Ferry Bancorp and served on the boards of The Marine Museum of Fall River, the Denver Chamber Orchestra, and the Denver Children's Museum.
Gerry's passion for sports was a defining aspect of his life. From a young age, he enjoyed sailing, racing candy boats out of the Tiverton Yacht Club in Rhode Island and later spending weekends sailing with his family in Buzzards Bay on his boats, Melody (Half-Note) and Pillow (Pillow Down). Shortly after college, he took up downhill skiing, serving on the ski patrol at Waterville Valley Resort in New Hampshire and later enjoying the Over-the-Hill Ski Gang at the Copper Mountain ski area in Colorado. As an avid golfer, he cherished every moment spent with his wife and fellow-golfers at the Lone Tree Golf Club.
Gerry is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Anderson McNally; his loving children, Tracy White (Andrew), Mark McNally, and Kimi Sato (Steven); his devoted grandchildren, Kesli, Carter, Owen, Brittany, Ashlynne, Cassidy, Sierra, Conor, and Kelli; his dedicated siblings, Richard McNally (Margaret) and Carolyn Noering (Thomas); and his in-laws, Pam Anderson Gard (Jeffery) and Denise Anderson Hachtel, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gerry's kindness, generosity, and contributions touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed. Per his request, there will be no official service, but a family gathering on Cape Cod will take place in the summer to celebrate his life.
